Description
Lillian Gilbreth was an industrial engineer, professor, and consultant who demonstrated how it is possible to be both a mother and career woman through her contributions to production-line efficiency and innovative designs of various kitchen appliances, while applying ideas of efficiency to the home as a mother of twelve. Gilbreth exemplified how a woman's career could be to the benefit of motherhood, contrary to popular belief at the time.
ID: A black and white photograph (two page spread) shows a smiling family of thirteen on a seesaw, with the parents at each end. At the lower half of the seesaw is the father and the Gilbreth boys, while the mother and the Gilbreth girls sit on the other end. Their house, along with two other homes, can be seen in the distance. Right of the photograph is a description of Lillian Gilbreth's legacy and how she used her skills as an industrial engineer to manage and support her large family.
