Description
American World War 1 Helmet of Massa Gustave Adolf Svenson, modeled after the British Brodie Helmet. Consisted of a single piece of stamped 18-gauge manganese steel alloy and a wide brim. The exterior surface is paint mixed with sand, sawdust, or crushed cork to eliminate glare.
ID: Textured round olive green helmet with two-inch brim around the circumference. The outside of the helmet shows scratches and dents with areas the paint is chipped off allowing the shiny silver metal underneath to be seen. On the interior there is rubberized canvas where the head would sit with rubber stoppers around the edges to provide the wearer comfort. The chinstrap is missing as one of the metal buckles has broken off. Beneath the rubberized canvas there is a foam pad at the crown of the helmet.
Physical Dimensions: 11 inches long by 9.5 inches wide and 7 inches deep
