It appears with a crocodilian body, an elephantine face, and with a fish-like tail. It is revered as a guardian of the water ways and as a vehicle of the gods. This creature was often carved into temples and homes to serve as a protector and appeared in literature as a form of symbolism. The concert commemorated the fall of the Berlin wall, which occurred eight months before. As noted by the plaque attached, the prop was stolen by Barry Chase and Scott Woodside, who were hosts of the Z93 radio show in Atlanta at the time. Chase and Woodside were broadcasting live from Berlin during the concert, and stole the prop to bring it back to the United States after the concert was finished. Back in Atlanta, the radio program hosted a theater viewing of the concert, where they raffled off the brick to one of the attendees. The book was released in 1968 and coincided with a period of heightened national focus on patriotism, especially during the Vietnam War. It was created for the purpose of educating Americans, especially Marines, on how to properly handle and display the American flag. It was handed out in Arlington and served both as a ceremonial and patriotic purpose, reinforcing national identity and military tradition. The Marine Corps used it to teach service members, ensuring uniformity and respect.
