During the encounter Edward tells of troubles with bathrooms and the dangers she faced while Dr. Knox continues to pathologize her by drawing up an absurd transition plan including removing 8 inches of her legs to shorten her and hormones to meet the female standard of that year of a 56 inch cup size and a 12 and 1/2 inch waist. While this story is satirical it does directly highlight many of the issues transgender women sadly still face in the medical world today. The bathroom situation has not improved drastically from the comical description in the beginning of the article and the proving yourself to your psychiatrist situation is almost identical. Warren Smith Subject The topic of the resource American Forests, Fishing, Deforestation, Pollution, Environment Description An account of the resource The article discusses how fishing has become increasingly difficult because of two major problems, deforestation and pollution. The article describes that these problems are increasing the temperature of rivers and lakes in the Middle West water table and causing the environment to be unlivable for trout. The author points out that while discussion of repopulating rivers and lakes takes place, the main issue is not being addressed, which is, “what use to plant fish in streams and lakes, if water conditions are untenable?” (Smith). He tells a story about the river he fished at when he was younger and how the water has become untenable because of deforestation. He proposes an effort called the reforestation program. This effort essentially takes trees from land that is not used for agriculture, and places them in “barrens” of Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. The reason for this, as described by the author, is because without forests and swamps our water supply with become straitened.
